THE LITTLE THINGS MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE
Your wedding photos are shaped by so much more than what happens in front of my camera.
The timeline, getting-ready space, lighting, first looks, portrait time, reception plans — all of those little decisions can change how your day feels and how it photographs.
That’s exactly why I created Wedding 101.
Think of this as your little corner of SHR for planning a wedding day that feels intentional without feeling overly planned. Below, you’ll find my favorite tips, timeline guidance, traditions worth considering,
and ideas I’ve picked up from being behind the scenes of wedding days.
You don’t have to know exactly what you’re doing yet.
That’s what I’m here for. 🤍
Timeline Tips
from a certified wedding planner + Photographer
A thoughtfully built timeline gives your wedding day room to breathe. The goal isn’t to schedule every minute —
it’s to make sure there’s enough time for the moments that matter without your day feeling rushed.
When we build your photography timeline, I’ll help you work backward from your ceremony, consider travel time, lighting, family portraits, wedding party photos, and all the little transitions in between. I always recommend adding a little breathing room, too — because wedding days rarely run perfectly to the minute, and they shouldn’t have to.
A little extra time now means a lot less stress later.

Getting Ready
THE MORNING SETS THE TONE
The quiet moments before everything begins are some of my favorites to photograph —
the dress hanging in the window, your favorite people getting ready beside you,
the nervous excitement, the champagne, the finishing touches, and all of the little details you spent months choosing.
A little preparation goes a long way in making this part of your gallery feel intentional without making the morning feel staged.
Before I arrive, I recommend choosing a getting-ready space with plenty of natural light and keeping one area near the windows as clutter-free as possible. Bags, food containers, garment covers, water bottles, and everyday items can quickly become distracting in photographs.
Have your important details gathered together in one place so I can begin photographing them while everyone continues getting ready.
